Between the launch of Calamari Educational Media, our new show, our first feature documentary, work on the ground in California and Florida . . . there's much to report.

Calamari Educational Media

Probably the most exciting thing in our world is the launch of Calamari Educational Media and the online marketplace that will bring it to you, Calamari Digital. With the launch we are releasing a 4-DVD set of one of our most impactive case studies in the Child Welfare arena, as well as two titles in the Juvenile Justice arena. See the DVD page for details, watch the preview in the Gallery, and find the full catalog at Calamari Digital.

Juvenile Prison Educational Series

We're excited to roll out the first in what will be a lengthy educational series that deals with the many facets of maximum security juvenile prison. From administrative staff, to guards, to behavioral scientists, the audience for the hundreds of issues that arise in this environment is vast. WATCH and READ MORE...

The Feature Documentary

We are super excited to begin production on our first feature film. Set to film in Miami, Los Angeles, and Indiana, we consider this to be our most personal project ever. We will be exploring three different court systems, focusing on a few individuals and families in each location, all with the goal of throwing back the veil on the enormity of the child welfare issues facing this country.

Pro-Bono Material

Another new endeavor for us is providing a body of pro-bono content to our colleagues and community. Over the years we've learned that there are so many places where our content holds value, often as simple short thought-provoking videos. We are working on the collection now, and will populate the Resource Pages with lots of choice pieces in the weeks to come.

The Upcoming Series

  • Lake County Juvenile Justice is our most in-depth and thorough look at the juvenile justice system and the kids, attorneys, judges and families who are involved with it. Each episode of Lake County Juvenile Justice follows individual teens through their experience in the system.
  • For some, this means months in detention and numerous court hearings; for others, detention is no longer an option – juvenile prison is the final destination…and we’re there to document every experience along the way.
  • Lake County Juvenile Justice was filmed between July, 2008 and April of this
year in the Juvenile Courts and Detention Complex in Crown Point, Indiana; the Indianapolis Juvenile Correctional Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana: and the Logansport Juvenile Correctional facility in Logansport, Indiana.
  • The series is 6 one-hour episodes and will premier this summer on MSNBC. Stay tuned for more details and dates. You can catch a few sneak previews in the gallery pages now.
